The Creativity of Neglect
I published my first Substack post on the 31st December 2023 – and this is my 84th consecutive Sunday reflection. I have found writing these Various Inklings incredibly healing, rewarding, and revealing – and today I feel it is time for a summer break - well, I felt it last week, but as William Blake puts it in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell:
“You never know what is enough until you know what is more than enough.”
Apparently, in the hard science of numerology, the number 84 is often a symbol of creative expression – and I have just bought a beautiful gold cigar box guitar with my Hobgoblin Music voucher (a leaving present from my job of sixteen years) – so I’m going to play around with this little instrument in various hills, dales, and mountains – and tend to some much neglected corners of my creative kingdom within - ready for more hints, guesses, and inklings in September.
